Free Download: How Well Do I Know Myself Quiz
Self-awareness is key to becoming healthier in our relationships with God, ourselves, and others. The How Well Do I Know Myself Quiz will help you on your journey toward healthier relationships.
Perhaps you are like me and had never heard of a life coach.
The first time I had heard the term, was spring of 2015, when a lady who was ministering to me at the time, suggested that I might like life coaching. I thank God for speaking to me through her, because she was exactly right.
As a coach, I partner with clients to help them move forward from where they are to where they want to be. In spring of 2012, I realized where I was….I WAS STUCK. The thought of life continuing to look the way it did for the rest of my life got me MOVING FORWARD. There are two great motivators for change, which are pain and passion. It was my pain at this point that was motivating me. Due to the privacy of others in my story, I will not share the specifics of my situation, but I can share where I was and where I am now.
Where I was:
Lack of understanding about healthy boundaries
Experiencing anxiety
Overly responsible which was leading to resentment
Exhausted
people pleasing
unhealthy mindsets
co-dependent
in some destructive/unhealthy relationships
STUCK
Where I am now:
Healthy understanding of boundaries
Experiencing peace
Responsible for me and respectful to others
Living a more balanced life
Living from God’s approval of me secured for me by Jesus
Healthy mindsets
God dependent and self aware of misplaced dependency at any given moment
My relationships are healthier
Partnering with clients as a certified life coach and running a business
Resting on God’s LAP (LOVE, APPROVAL, and PROVISION)
I am working with a life coach now. Much of what helped move me forward, I learned from the mentors mentoring me through the books I read. I wish I had had a life coach. I did have some counselors who were gracious listeners and helpers in the midst of my pain. I am grateful for them! The value of having a life coach is being able to move forward faster with support, encouragement, accountability and help with different perspectives. Already my life coach has helped me identify some negative self talk and determine action steps to move me forward in my passions and goals. She has also observed some of my strengths and shared tools with me to MOVE me FORWARD to where I want to be.
In this blog, I share some thoughts on self talk and something Abraham Lincoln said to himself.
